The survey office

About SwitchCut

We got tired of software reviews that read like advertisements. So we built a survey office instead.

Why this office exists

Every "best hosting" list, every "top CRM" roundup, every "email marketing comparison" seems to rank providers by commission, not quality. Sites give every tool 4.5 stars, bury the real problems, and push you toward whoever pays the most. We saw the same pattern across hosting, CRM, and email marketing: biased reviews, hidden conflicts of interest, and readers making decisions based on marketing instead of reality.

We decided to flip the model. Instead of starting with what software companies say about themselves, we start with what real users actually experience. We analyze 490,000+ reviews from G2, Trustpilot, and Capterra, compile TTFB and deliverability benchmarks from published performance testing, verify pricing down to intro vs renewal splits, and recommend alternatives based on that data.

If every tool gets 4.5 stars, the ratings mean nothing. We built SwitchCut so the scores actually help you decide.

How we work

490,000+ reviews analyzed

We cross reference G2, Trustpilot, and Capterra scores for every tool we cover. When G2 rates a tool 4.4/5 but Trustpilot shows 1.5/5, that gap reveals billing problems no feature list will mention.

Benchmarked, not guessed

TTFB response times, uptime records, deliverability rates, and load test results, compiled from published performance testing. Our recommendations cite specific numbers because "fast servers" and "great deliverability" mean nothing without data.

Honestly scored

Every tool we recommend comes with real pros and cons. Our scores vary because quality varies. If a tool scores low, we say so.

Transparent

We disclose affiliate relationships upfront. Our methodology is public. You can see exactly how we evaluate every tool.

The field team

Five people. Three territories. One rule: recommend what is genuinely better, not what pays more.

Nora Keane

EDITOR IN CHIEF · TERRITORY: HOSTING

Nora runs editorial at SwitchCut. She sets the bar every sheet has to clear before it ships: every claim traced to a source, renewal pricing checked against the fine print, every "best" earned rather than sponsored. She signs off on every recommendation we publish, and she has killed more drafts than she has approved. All sheets by Nora Keane

Robert Allen

TECHNICAL REVIEWER · TERRITORY: HOSTING

Robert owns the performance data at SwitchCut. He maintains our benchmark tables across 10 hosting providers (from Kinsta's 120ms TTFB to HostGator's 904ms), compiled from published load and uptime testing, and he is the person on the team who actually enjoys reading server spec sheets. If a number appears in a hosting sheet, it went through him first. All sheets by Robert Allen

Jules Marchetti

STAFF WRITER · TERRITORY: CRM

Jules covers CRM at SwitchCut. Her beat is the switching journey: what breaks when a business moves its customer data, which migrations go smoothly, and which platforms quietly punish you for leaving. She writes every guide from the complaint data up, assuming you would rather not do it twice. All sheets by Jules Marchetti

Danny Soh

STAFF WRITER · TERRITORY: EMAIL

Danny covers email marketing at SwitchCut. He tracks deliverability data across 7 email platforms (ActiveCampaign at 94.2% inbox placement, Mailchimp at 78%) and follows pricing changes the way other people follow sports. He writes about email tools the way a mechanic talks about engines: specific, opinionated, and slightly obsessive. All sheets by Danny Soh

Priya Anand

RESEARCH ANALYST · ALL TERRITORIES

Priya builds the scoring models behind every rating on SwitchCut. She works from 490,000+ reviews across G2, Trustpilot, and Capterra, tracks pricing changes down to intro vs renewal splits, and is the reason our scores range from 5.3 to 8.3 instead of giving everyone 4.5 stars. The territory we cover

Three categories of business software where switching costs are high and biased reviews cause real damage.

More territories are on the way. If there is a software category where users get burned by biased reviews, we will probably survey it.

How we make money

Some links on this site are affiliate links. When you sign up for a service through our links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This is how we keep the site free and independent.

Affiliate commissions never influence our rankings. If a lower commission product is genuinely better for your use case, that is what we recommend. Read our full affiliate disclosure for details, or see how we survey for the method behind every score.
