About SwitchCut
We got tired of software reviews that read like advertisements. So we built something better.
Why We Exist
Every "best hosting" list, every "top CRM" roundup, every "email marketing comparison" seems to rank providers by commission, not quality. Sites give every tool 4.5 stars, bury the real problems, and push you toward whoever pays the most. We saw the same pattern across hosting, CRM, and email marketing: biased reviews, hidden conflicts of interest, and readers making decisions based on marketing instead of reality.
We decided to flip the model. Instead of starting with what software companies say about themselves, we start with what real users actually experience. We analyze 490,000+ reviews from G2, Trustpilot, and Capterra, run TTFB benchmarks and deliverability tests, verify pricing down to intro vs renewal splits, and recommend alternatives based on that data.
If every tool gets 4.5 stars, the ratings mean nothing. We built SwitchCut so the scores actually help you decide.
Our Approach
490,000+ Reviews Analyzed
We cross-reference G2, Trustpilot, and Capterra scores for every tool we cover. When G2 rates a tool 4.4/5 but Trustpilot shows 1.5/5, that gap reveals billing problems no feature list will mention.
Benchmarked, Not Guessed
TTFB response times, uptime measurements, deliverability rates, and load test results. Our recommendations cite specific numbers because "fast servers" and "great deliverability" mean nothing without data.
Honestly Scored
Every tool we recommend comes with real pros and cons. Our scores vary because quality varies. If a tool scores low, we say so.
Transparent
We disclose affiliate relationships upfront. Our methodology is public. You can see exactly how we evaluate every tool.
The Team
Five people. Three verticals. One rule: recommend what is genuinely better, not what pays more.
Nora Keane
Editor in Chief
Nora has spent the last two years obsessively testing web hosting providers, migrating WordPress sites between them, and documenting what actually changes when you switch. Before that, she managed websites for small businesses and learned the hard way that a host's sales page and its actual performance are rarely the same thing. She runs editorial at SwitchCut and personally signs off on every recommendation we publish.
Andreas Protopapas
Technical Reviewer
Andreas is the person on our team who actually enjoys reading server spec sheets. He benchmarks TTFB across 10 hosting providers (from Kinsta's 120ms to HostGator's 904ms), tracks uptime measurements, and runs load tests that reveal how servers behave under real traffic. He comes from a web development background and gets unreasonably excited about CDN configurations.
Jules Marchetti
Staff Writer
Jules writes about the tools small businesses actually use day to day. She spent three years running operations for an ecommerce brand, where she learned that picking the wrong CRM costs you more in wasted hours than it ever does in subscription fees. She has migrated client databases between more platforms than she would like to admit, and she writes every guide assuming you would rather not do it twice.
Danny Soh
Staff Writer
Danny has been building and breaking email campaigns since 2021. He tracks deliverability rates across 7 email platforms (ActiveCampaign hits 94.2% inbox placement, Mailchimp lands at 78%) and runs two newsletters of his own. He writes about email tools the way a mechanic talks about engines: specific, opinionated, and slightly obsessive.
Priya Anand
Research Analyst
Priya digs into the numbers behind our reviews. She cross-references 490,000+ reviews across G2, Trustpilot, and Capterra, tracks pricing changes down to intro vs renewal splits, and builds the scoring models behind every rating. She is the reason our scores range from 5.3 to 8.3 instead of giving everyone 4.5 stars.
What We Cover
We focus on three categories of business software where switching costs are high and biased reviews cause real damage:
- Web Hosting. Shared, managed WordPress, cloud, VPS, and dedicated hosting.
- CRM & Sales Tools. Customer relationship management, sales pipelines, and helpdesk software.
- Email Marketing. Newsletter platforms, marketing automation, and deliverability tools.
More categories are on the way. If there is a software category where users get burned by biased reviews, we will probably cover it.
How We Make Money
Some links on this site are affiliate links. When you sign up for a service through our links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This is how we keep the site free and independent.
Affiliate commissions never influence our rankings. If a lower commission product is genuinely better for your use case, that is what we recommend. Read our full affiliate disclosure for details, or see our methodology page for how we evaluate tools.
